Largest Single Donation This Year Received

Many thanks to Pat and Doreen Butler of the Universal Golf Foundation AC and the EDM Management for their generous contribution of $50,000 pesos to support scholarships, school construction projects and other FOB activities in Barron. Over the past several years, FOB has been able to count on the generosity of this foundation and the EDM management in furthering its work with the schools and students of Barron as well as helping us sponsor scholarships for the kids of EDM employees who do not live in Barron.

FOB Donor List

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”
― John Holmes

We are well exercised. Our List of Donors grows every year and as old avenues narrow, others reveal themselves and morph from trail, to street and perhaps to super highways.

In the last three months these EDM residents and friends of EDM residents have contributed a total of $8867 US dollars to the FOB CANAM scholarship and school construction funds. The bulk of the money will go to support high school students with scholarships that cover about half of their annual schooling expenses.

If you continue to read this blog, you will see what is in the works. And some of that is really exciting. Our new strategy is to incentivise you, the good and generous people of Estrella del Mar and their far flung friends and relatives to stay involved. Stay tuned here. Sign up to automatically get these posts. I promise to keep them short, sweet, business-like.

More Donations Arrive

Our thanks go out to Sam Perricone and Jim & Frances Barnes for their generous donations to the Friends of Barron Scholarship Fund. With their combined support, FOB will be able to support another qualified student from the 2011 graduating class of the Barron Secondary School as well as the Barnes’ continuing support for a 2010 graduate. Details on these new students are being processed right now and their bios will soon be posted on this website. So look for it.

Donations Rolling In

Donations for the Friends of Barron Scholarship Program that sends Barron kids to high school in Mazatlan have begun to arrive in anticipation of the new school year which starts in August, 2011. Rita Pacheco, Dick & Kris McGuire, Dale & Lynda Lyster, Bob & Julie Wallace and John Watson have all agreed to fund the student they adopted in 2010 for the 2011-2012 school year. Other donations by Bob & Pat Tieken and Jerry & Geri Soukup will help to fund scholarships for additional students.

Friends of Barron has consulted a notario to evaluate the possibility of establishing FOB as a registered Mexican non-profit organization. In the coming weeks we hope to gain an understanding of the process and will keep you updated on our progress.

Donations Received! Thanks Due.

Many thanks to Rita Pacheco and Bob & Julie Wallace for their generous donations of $1000 USD and $300 USD, respectively. Thanks Again to Dave & Elaine Greiner

Yesterday, Dave and Elaine Greiner from Estrella del Mar Phase Two toured the Barron Schools. They had a very large bag of school supplies to deliver to the elementary school and the kindergarten. They brought crayons, paper pads, scissors and lots of other stuff that will surely stimulate the budding artists of Barron. At the end of the day, Dave and Elaine also donated $2000 pesos to the ongoing school projects. Dave and Elaine have been Friends of Barrons’ biggest supporters and we really appreciate their continued support.
