The Fiesta Gala fundraising event has been a huge success. Over 90 people purchased tickets and over $3000 USD worth of wonderful auction items were donated. Even if you were not able to attend in person, all you had to do was go to http://www.laslagunitas.wordpress.com/ and participate in the Silent Auction. The school fathers in Barron recently raised over $2700 pesos in support of the Friends of Barron initiative to air condition the secondary school. The committee went door to door soliciting donations and were able to collect the sum. Thank you Padres de las Escuelas!
Dale Lyster cuts the ribbon to the brand new elementary school library while school principal Hilario Espinoza Ortiz looks on. Dale was instrumental in raising the money to rennovate the empty classrom and turn it into a proper lending library for the Barron community. Efforts continue to locate more books.
Just recently, Friends of Barron has received significant donations from Rita Pacheco, a homeowner, Cliff and Barbie duFresne in Las Lagunitas. John Watson has begun to donate his time by teaching English at the secondary school. Thank you! Thank You! Thank you for your support.
